Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Weatheryo provides current weather, forecasts, air quality, astronomy information and weather alerts through the Weatheryo mobile application and weatheryo.com. This policy identifies Weatheryo as the service provider and explains how information is handled.

2. Information we process

• Approximate location: your IP address may be used to estimate a city when you request automatic weather.
• Precise or approximate device location: latitude and longitude are used only after you choose the location feature and grant operating-system or browser permission.
• Search input: city or place names you submit.
• Public place catalogue: public place names, regions, countries, rounded coordinates, timezone and an aggregate popularity count may be retained to answer later searches without repeatedly contacting WeatherAPI. These catalogue records are not linked to an account, IP address or individual search history.
• Preferences and cached weather: language, theme, units, selected coordinates, saved/recent locations, and the latest weather snapshot may be stored locally on your device or browser so the service can start quickly and provide a stale offline fallback.
• Optional notification: if you enable the weather notification, the selected place and current conditions may be visible on your home/lock screen according to operating-system privacy settings.
• Map requests: when you open the optional weather map, map tile coordinates and ordinary network data such as your IP address are sent directly to OpenStreetMap and WeatherAPI.com to draw the selected area.
• Essential website storage: short-lived security/session cookies may be used for request integrity; they are not advertising cookies.
• Technical information: routine API access logging is disabled on location-query routes. Security or error logs may contain an IP address, request time, path, user-agent, or limited request metadata.

3. Why and how data is used

Location or search text is used to return weather for the place you request, prevent excessive API usage through a 10-minute weather cache, keep the service secure and diagnose failures. We do not use location for advertising, profiling or unrelated tracking.

4. Service providers and transmission

Weather queries, including a city, approximate IP location, or coordinates when you authorize precise location, are transmitted securely to our server and to WeatherAPI.com, our weather-data provider. Optional map tiles are loaded from WeatherAPI.com and OpenStreetMap. Hosting and network providers may process technical traffic data to deliver and protect the service. We do not sell personal information.

5. Retention and deletion

Weather responses are cached on the server for 10 minutes and then expire automatically. Public place-catalogue records may remain until corrected or removed because they describe public geography and are not tied to a user; contact us to request correction. Local preferences and cached content remain until the app/browser clears or replaces them. Routine security logs may be retained for up to 30 days unless a longer period is required to investigate abuse or comply with law. Weatheryo does not currently offer user accounts. 6. Security and choices

Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Access to production systems is restricted and API credentials remain server-side. You can deny or revoke location permission, search manually, clear app/browser storage, or stop using the service. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.

7. Children and international use

Weatheryo does not knowingly request names, accounts, contacts or advertising identifiers from children. Location is processed only to provide a user-requested weather function. If a parent or guardian believes a child submitted personal information, contact us for review.
